This property in Surrey was in a bad condition with penetrating damp and no insulation on the external walls. Apart from 100% waterproofing your external walls WALLCOTE offers a reasonable amount of insulation compared to masonry paint or plain render
If your main concern is insulating your external walls you have several options depending on the construction of your property, Cavity walls can be injected with several types of insulation ( polyester beads being in our opinion the best option ) GUNEX WALLCOTE is then a good top up to this keeping the external skin warm and dry.
If your external walls are solid brick / block the the only option is external thermal boarding but this does add approx. 75 Mil ( 3"inches ) to the exterior and is a major renovation undertaking and expensive. Apart from that it's also very impractical on the majority of houses in the UK, requires Building control permission and can destroy the character of the property.

This property below shows an older solid wall house in desperate need of weatherproofing and insulating. On consulting with the client we was shown black mould in all bedrooms and the lounge. As fast as the client was painting the internal walls the mould was back. Our survey showed that the external walls was saturated with water and was never drying out . You can see why from a picture taken during the works ( Pic 3 ) even on a summer's day the walls was getting soaking wet from a summer rain shower, imagine these walls during in the winter .
As the walls was built in solid 9" brick & Stone the clients only option was insulation and weatherproof the external walls, but adding 75Mil boarding to this property would ruin the character and would need extensive alterations to the building structure and roof. Because of this and the costs involved the client decided to go with the WALLCOTE system .
